OUR
COMMUNICATION
Our communication style is direct and concise, always keeping our interlocutor in mind. We have to conveyimmediately, making sure that the receiver understands the information as it is. There are no hidden messages or ambiguities; the aim is that there is no room for confusion.
- Clarity: Clear and understandable messages.
- Conciseness: Avoid unnecessary or redundant information.
- Honesty: We share the truth.
Use of name
Full name
The full name of the university is Universidad Pontificia Comillas. It is written with a capital initial only in the first words.
If it is to appear several times in a text, it will be written in full the first time and Comillas will be used thereafter.
Centres and faculties
Most faculties or schools have their own acronyms. The full name of all faculties and schools should be written the first time they are mentioned. These are:
- Faculty of Theology (Comillas CIHS)
- Faculty of Canon Law (Comillas CIHS)
- Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (Comillas CIHS)
- Higher Technical School of Engineering (Comillas ICAI)
- Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (Comillas ICADE)
- Faculty of Law (Comillas ICADE)
- "San Juan de Dios" University School of Nursing and Physical Therapy.
From now on, the acronyms (ICADE and ICAI), or the acronym (CIHS) may be used to refer to the corresponding centres, always accompanied by the word Comillas: Comillas ICADE, Comillas ICAI, Comillas CIHS.
As for the physical spaces, we will speak of:
- Cantoblanco Campus:
To refer to the facilities located in Cantoblanco. - Alberto Aguilera Campus:
To refer to the buildings located in the centre of Madrid. - San Juan de Dios Campus to refer to the set of facilities of the University School of Nursing and Physical Therapy located in Ciempozuelos and San Rafael Campus, for the facilities in Paseo de la Habana (Madrid).
- Centres and chairs :
The names of the chairs and centres will be accompanied by "Universidad Pontificia Comillas" the first time they are mentioned: "x" of the Universidad Pontificia Comillas, especially in texts intended for external audiences (press releases, emails...). Within the Comillas website, it is not necessary to indicate that they belong to the university, but it is necessary to indicate the faculty or school to which they belong, again, in the first mention.
Orthography
- Capital letters: The word university shall be written in lower case whenever it is not inside a proper noun. Also the words faculty or school. Positions should also be written in lower case.
- Titles of creative works: books, films, paintings, sculptures, musical pieces, radio or television programmes, works of creation...
The titles of creative works are written in italics and with initial capital letters.
- Foreign words: Words, expressions or phrases in a foreign language, which are not fully integrated into our language, are written in italics.
- Abbreviations: All abbreviations are followed by a period.
- Date and time: For the date, the ascending order model should be used, expressing the day first, followed by the month and the year.
For the time, a colon should be used to separate the elements making up the time expression: 13:27 h.
