This program is a joint initiative between the Blanquerna Foundation's Faculty of Psychology, Education and Sports Sciences, Universitat Ramon Llull, and Comillas Pontifical University, through its University Institute of Family Studies and Faculty of Law (ICADE).

At Comillas, the University Institute of Family Studies has led the Spanish research network on adoption and has participated in some of the research with the greatest impact in this area. It has also collaborated over the past 15 years in the training of technicians and families and has advised some organizations and administrations on technical and legal issues. Also, the Faculty of Law has an excellent reputation for its level of teaching and, through its Santander Chair in Law and Minors, it has worked with organizations in the sector to give visibility to children's problems and propose legal solutions.

At Ramón Llull, the Blanquerna Foundation's Faculty of Psychology, Education and Sport Sciences (FPCEE) has extensive experience in postgraduate adoption and post-adoption training. In addition, the Fundació Blanquerna Assistencial i de Serveis (FBAS) has over 10 years dedicated to advising adoptive families, providing them with Psychological services as well as Educational and Social Work services.

The Comillas-Blanquerna alliance was born from the close collaboration between the two institutions, both in teaching and research, through the Campus of International Excellence Aristos Campus Mundus.

The growing presence of foster and adoptive families and the large number of children in protection means that it is increasingly necessary for professional specialization in this field. Children and foster or adoptive families should have access to professionals who know how to deal with the specific features of these forms of coexistence: child development needs for those in high-risk or dangerous situations, the specific features of adoptive parenthood and the challenges of the residential and family fostering process.

While fostering and adoption are increasingly present in Western society, and media often addresses these issues, it is not so common for foster or adoptive families to be able count on professional and well trained support to help them through daily difficulties and special problems and to promote better development for the children that become part of their families.

Because of this, a theoretically well founded and interdisciplinary specialization of the professionals working with foster and adoptive families and children in the protection system is necessary.

These professionals should be aware of legislation regarding the protection of minors in Spain, the development of foster care and adoption processes and how to diagnose and intervene in the difficulties that often arise during fostering and the post-adoption period. The postgraduate course that we offer seeks to achieve these objectives and do it from this perspective.

WHO IS IT INTENDED FOR?
Professionals working in the field of adoption and child protection that are interested in updating and deepening their knowledge in the area, as well as acquiring or increasing their intervention skills for their own field of specialization
