WHY CHOOSE US?

The long track-record of the ICADE Faculty of Law and the ESADE Faculty of Law in training legal professionals with the highest level of excellence and ethical values, both in terms of undergraduate and postgraduate studies, sufficiently endorses the students' choice of this program. It is also worth noting some of the other advantages of the double degree program, such as the fact that it provides a perspective of the legal practice in the context of a globalized economy, the eminently practical training, the level of excellence and vast experience of the lecturers that constitute the faculty staff and the official in-company internship module that will allow our students to gain work experience in the most renowned firms, institutions and companies.

Who is it intended for?

This program is the most advanced and rigorous in the Spanish academic market to train future lawyers, combining in a single program the necessary contents that are required by the rules governing admission to the bar so that holders of a Bachelor's Degree in Law may engage in the legal profession as lawyers, along with the Master's Degree in Global Business Law which is taught entirely in English and which caters to the ongoing transformation of the legal profession in the field of business law that is profoundly affected by economic globalization.

Therefore, this program is especially suited not only to Bachelor's Degree graduates, but also to holders of a Licentiate Degree in Law who wish to receive more comprehensive and advanced training in the practice of law in the context of a globalized economy and who wish to become future leaders in the sector.

The admission process will consist in assessing the academic background of applicants by looking at their academic transcript and, where appropriate, requesting them to take an English test and attend an interview with the program's Joint Directors and/or Coordinator.

Admission application filing period

The admission application period opens in January 9, 2017 until all places are filled.

Admission requirements of the Program for Admission to the Bar + Global Business Law:

  • Holding a Bachelor's Degree in Law or equivalent that enables the students to acquire the knowledge, skills and legal competencies that are required to be able to engage in the legal profession (art. 3 Royal Decree 775/2011).
  • having an academic record with an overall grade of remarkable (a score of 7.0) or higher in the Bachelor's Degree or equivalent program; unless the candidate's motivation and background are deemed sufficient for admission;
  • providing proof of a high level of English that may allow the student to take the classes that are taught entirely in English and of knowledge of legal English in particular. Such proof may consist of supporting documents showing that the student has attained the level required; alternatively, the student may be required to take an ad hoc language level test or attend a personal interview.

Admission process

The admission process to the Master's program is as follows:

  • Submission of applications: the admission application must be submitted before the deadline indicated to such effect, using the standard form and supplying all the supporting documents in compliance with the admission requirements: academic record or proof of the modules studied and completed at the time, the grades awarded, and proof of the level of English.
  • Personal interview with the Master's Course Director: having examined the required documents, the candidate will be required to attend a personal interview with the Course Director/Coordinator during which the candidate's legal competencies, argumentative skills, personal profile, motivation, interpersonal skills and ethical commitment will be assessed.
  • Admission decision and notification of acceptance: having examined the documents required, and once the personal interview has taken place, the decision on admission will be communicated to the candidate. The candidate may also check the status of their application through the Admissions Portal.

The final admission decision results from the assessment of the different elements that make up the required profile in accordance with the following weighting:

  • Up to 50% - academic record
  • Up to 30% - knowledge of English
  • Up to 20% - personal interview

Our goal is to enable our students to acquire the professional skills in accordance with Law 34/2006 and its Royal Decree 775/2011, and pass the national entrance test to be convened annually by the Ministries of Justice and Education, which is the final requirement, once the Master's Degree has been awarded, to be admitted to the bar. Furthermore, we also seek to train professionals with high levels of excellence in the practice of law that have a clear understanding of the characteristics and challenges of the profession in the 21st century in addition to a comprehensive and in-depth level of specialization in the field of business law, who are aware of the profound changes that the profession is undergoing in a context of economic globalization.

The teaching methodology on the program is based on active learning through the case method, professional simulations, the Socratic Method and other teaching tools to introduce the students to the practice of law and to enable them to experience it through individual study, teamwork and in the classroom.
