The Department of Sacred Scripture and Church History offers a Specialist Degree in Biblical Spirituality in response to a growing desire in diverse sectors of Christianity to base spiritual experience in sources of the Word of God. For the Church, the Bible is "the soul of sacred theology" (Dei Verbum, 24), the vital source of its spiritual life, which we should consult to understand the language of God in all age, since “we hear Him when we read the divine saying" (DV 25).
The thematic structure of the course aims to address the experiences of biblical faith that, based on the saving acts experienced by the people of God and the followers of Christ, have shaped biblical spirituality. This appears in particular in many books from the Old and New Testament, the main focus of this program. Greater understanding of these books and of the experience of the Biblical God can help us to be more faithful to God and to our brothers and sisters and can lead to changes in our attitudes, actions and relationships with others since, at the end of the day, according to the Bible, prayer and justice both stem from the same source: the grace of God.
